AhlulBayt News Agency - Backed by allies, the Syrian army has tightened its blockade on the rebel-held northern city of Aleppo, moving a long step closer to the strategic victory over the terrorist groups whom it has been fighting for over 5 years, and whom have had backing of an array of foreign countries from the region and beyond.
The military experts have called encirclement of the contested city and the very likely upcoming triumph of the Syrian government in fight over terrorism as a "strategic win."
Now a variety of terrorist groups and their supporters are present in Aleppo, a city next to the Turkish borders with Syria, and whose liberation from the foreign-backed terrorists represents a launching pad for further advances of the Syrian forces towards taking back Raqqa, a stronghold of ISIS terror group in Syria, and the so-called capital of the Islamic caliphate.
This triumph is said to play as a major factor in limiting negotiating table's trump cards of the US, a staunch backer of the anti-Syrian government forces.
In past few days, the Syrian forces took control of Al-Mallah Farms located in Northwest Outskirts of Aleppo and Castillo Road– both standing as essential requirements for finalizing the encompassment.
Following liberation of Al-Mallah Farms on June 26, the Syrian army moved on to recapture the Castillo Road which is considered as the sole supply line of the terrorists close to the Turkish borders.
The strategic road links Aleppo to Idlib, a province half of which is held by the terrorist groups including al-Nusra Front and Ahrar ash-Sham. The fall of road to the Syrian government’s forces means a blow is dealt to the terrorists.
“Now it can be asserted that the terrorists inside Aleppo are devoid of any support, and so they lost the chance of receiving any weapons and ammunition," the military expert Turki Hasan maintained.
Hasan continued: "they cannot flee to Turkey, they are very isolated, and encircled."
Following Castillo Road recapture, the Syrian forces, which are offered unmatched backing from Lebanon’s Hezbollah and other allied forces on the ground and Russian fighter jets from the air, moved into Bani Zayd town in northern Aleppo to cut off the final supply line of the rebel groups in Aleppo.
The entry to Bani Zayd has pushed terrorists from al-Nusra Front, Jaysh al-Fatah, as well as Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki out of the town. They fled to Haribtan town, close to Bani Zayd, and from there to Idlib outskirts.
"By taking back Bani Zayd by the Syrian forces, the random shelling of the houses by the terrorists in the town will end, and the civilians will enjoy a broader margin of security," a military analyst noted.
Liberation of Bani Zayd also will allow the Syrian armed forces to have broader coordination with the Kurdish units present in Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood of the city of Aleppo.
Bani Zayd town was in the grasp of Liwa Shohada Badr militant group which later changed name to 16th Brigade of FSA, an acronym for Free Syrian Army.
